One of the biggest problems entrepreneurs have is when they have proof of concept (know their idea is good and has a market), is to fund the next stage of building the products or infrastructure and supply chain.



This often requires an outside capital. Normally, people get the capital to start their business from friends, business relations or remortgage of property. Other than the banks which are currently problematic because of the credit crunch, they are far more likely to turn you down.



But look on the bright side, there are business angels out there who are individual successful entrepreneurs like the five dragons in the BBC program "Dragons' Den" and the many other investment houses. However, it is not easy as well. You have to have the guts to show what you got in live television and the perseverance to fall in line for auditions.



In general there is very little chance of funding from those sources. A small percentage of executive summaries are read and most deals are done by referrals or personal introductions. The latter is the very best way of increasing chances of at least pitching your idea/business and get a feed back.
